It was on November 24th, 2007 when Ishmeet won his title of the VOI. It is really hard to believe that he is not among us. But surely has left a legacy behind him of his good deeds. His life is a motivation for many.

It seems as if it was yesterday when we all were voting enthusiastically for Ishmeet but today we just have his memories. How difficult it is for Ishmeet's family to cope up with this loss. It is hard to imagine their thoughts on November 24th, 2008. We just pray to almighty Waheguru to bless Ishmeet and his family.

Ishmeet we miss you a lot!! Wish you could come back but again Almighty Lord has his own way of doing things.

Ishmeet Got Threatening SMS- Questions to answer!!

Ishmeet’s family held a press conference where they provided details about their findings in the Maldives. To everyone’s surprise they have revealed that Ishmeet in fact got a threatening SMS a week before his death. The SMS was from some girl named Richa who is unknown to the family. The message read “Gud mng. Ek baat batao tmhe sharam nahi aati hai. No. dekh ke kaat dete ho. Aisa kyo krte ho tum. VOI bn ne ka itna ghamand mat kro ye jyada din tak nhi rhega” Interestingly the phone number was saved by the name of “Richa H cousin”. She seems like a cousin of someone whose name starts with H.

Family further conveyed their apprehension about the intentions of Sanjit Shah from Star Plus and Hassan Ishaan, a local organizer in the Maldives. It certainly seems fishy on part of the profit oriented company to bear extra expense of taking Ishmeet and then putting him in a resort four days prior to the show. It will worth mentioning here that Ishmeet’s peers Harshit Saxena and Abhas Joshi were also scheduled to perform in the same event but could not join Ishmeet because of their prior commitments. Then why Ishmeet was not told to accompany both Harshit and Abhas rather than flying before?

If we have to believe The Tribune, actually the show was scheduled in the very same resort, secluded from rest of the world in no mans land. It seems like the company was planning on ferrying the audience from Male to the resort on the boats (as the only way to reach that resort is by boat).

Doesn’t sound right!!

Family also found that the statements given by Vyom , Arunima, Sanjit Shah, and Hassan Ishaan to the Indian high commission and Maldives Police are in contradiction to each other.

Questions still lingering:

1. How can a 5ft 11 inch strong guy drown in the pool without any effort?

2. What about the blood clot and linear cut on Ishmeet’s body?

3. Why Ishmeet was wearing the same clothes in which he was last seen at the Maldives airport?

4. Why Vyom, Arunima, Sanjit Shah, and Hassan Ishaan gave contradicting statements to the Indian high commission and the Madives police?

5. Why emphasis was given on Ishmeet’s negligence in Vyom’s statement?

6. Why a secluded resort in no mans land was chosen for Ishmeet’s stay and the show?

7. Why resort was not informed about the celebrity status of Ishmeet so some security could have been provided?

8. Why Ishmeet was brought in Maldives 4 days prior to the show?

9. Why no body from the resort staff of 250 people saw Vyom and Arunima with Ishmeet at the pool?

10. Why Vyom couldn’t see Ishmeet struggling in the clear blue water of the pool?

11. Why didn’t the resort doctor, who was playing badminton just 15 seconds away from the pool, reach on time to save Ishmeet?

12. Who is this Richa, H’s cousin, who sent a threatening SMS to Ishmeet?

We don’t have an iota of doubt about the deliberate errors committed by the Star Group and the local organizing company.

Come on wake up authorities, you don’t need Scotland Yard or FBI to crack this case.

Ishmeet's Family is convinced of a foul play in to his death

Ishmeet’s family has returned from Maldives with some startling facts. Upon inspecting every nook and corner of the resort and talking with the resort staff, they found that not a single staff member (out of 250) saw Ishmeet with Vyom and Arunima (eyewitnesses) in the pool.

His family is convinced that there is no way Ishmeet could have got those injury marks on his forehead in the swimming pool which was just 92 inches (7.6 ft) deep. Another fact which came to forth was the presence of pool attendant up till 4:50 pm on the fateful day. The attendant’s claim of not seeing Ishmeet till 4:50 pm certainly point fingers towards the statements made by the eyewitnesses. If we have to believe the eyewitnesses who called for the help, there has to be someone in the resort confirming Arunima and Vyom’s presence in the pool.

We completely agree with Dr. C K Singh who has mentioned these eyewitnesses as self styled. Indeed these witnesses need to be interrogated in a formal way to get out the truth.

A press conference shall be held in the coming days where family will present the proof and evidence gathered by them in the Maldives which strongly suggest a conspiracy in Ishmeet’s death.

Ishmeet’s father Gurpinder Singh along with his uncle Dr. C K Singh has already apprised the Prime Minister of India of their findings in the Maldives. They have been assured by the Prime Minister of all possible help. In this regard, family will submit a formal written request for the CBI inquiry in the coming days.

Also, a website for Ishmeet Singh is coming up in the next few days. The website being created by his cousins and friends will share Ishmeet’s journey of life. Along that the website will also host some videos/pictures and other facts from Maldives to aware people about a strong possibility of a foul play in to his death.

Ishmeet's Family in Maldives!!

Ishmeet’s father (S. Gurprinder Singh) and chacha ji (Dr. C K Singh) have reached Maldives today. Based on our phone conversation with them on September 4th before their departure, they were scheduled to stay in the same resort (Chaaya Island Dhonveli Resort) where Ishmeet met his tragic end. As there was no initiation of any action or inquiry from the Indian government, a quest of a father to know how his only son died took this unfortunate and helpless family to Maldives on their own.

Before leaving they held a press conference in Delhi sharing their thoughts and concerns about the case. Dr. C K Singh further told us their plan of meeting the local press their in Maldives.

The Justice for Ishmeet Campaign Team has forwarded the contact information for the editors of Minivan News, a local English daily of Maldives, to Ishmeet’s family.

We also request the local Sikh Sangat in Maldives to come forward and help Ishmeet’s family. If you know anyone in Maldives, please pass on this information to them.

The family will hold another press conference after returning to India to apprise everyone what have they ascertain in Maldives.

Ishmeet's Family Endorsed This Campaign!!

Dr. Charan Kamal Singh, Ishmeet Singh’s Chacha Ji, has endorsed “Justice for Ishmeet” campaign. He further supported the petition by agreeing to the demands made in it. During our conversation, he was with the opinion that there should be some international pressure on the Indian government to make them act and mark an inquiry into the incident. We assured him all possible help in this by carrying on our campaign to mount pressure on the Government of India.

Dr. Singh also told us that creation of a foundation in the name of Ishmeet Singh is under process. The foundation will help promoting the legacy of Ishmeet by helping and supporting the upcoming talent. The foundation will lay special emphasis on the commitment to faith and will encourage upcoming Sikh stars to maintain their clean image (Intact Sikh Identity).

Honestly, we expected much more enthusiastic/strong response from Ishmeet's fans. Number of signatures per day is actually on a downward trend.

Do we people just believe in expressing ourselves in words only? Let’s ponder and come up with a good excuse. But you know nothing could be good enough to stop us from supporting our brother Ishmeet.

May be we initiators are not promoting this petition well enough. May be this petition is not reaching the masses. Help us promote this. Shoot us with some ideas of promoting it.

Viscera Report- Can we neglect "Haematoma on Temporal region and a Linear Cut" on Ishmeet's body?

Why are doctors ignoring this part of the report? Why are they emphasizing this to be a simple case of drowning? What is taking Central government so long to mark an inquiry into this?

Ishmeet Singh, a well known young celebrity singer and the winner of Voice of India contest (2007), was born on September 2nd, 1989 to Gurprinder Singh and Amritpal Kaur. Ishmeet Singh with his beautiful voice, sheer determination, commitment towards music, and of course with blessings from the Almighty, family, friends, and fans won the Voice of India title in the very first season of the contest. Apart from being an extremely talented singer, Ishmeet was known for his modesty, serenity, and strong family values. The guy was blessed to possess such humility in spite of attaining fame in such a short time.

As they say the good die young, Ishmeet died on July 29th, 2008 in the Maldives. Ishmeet had gone to Maldives to perform for the 'Star Voice of Maldives' contest to be held on the 1st of August, 2008. He “supposedly” drowned in the swimming pool of the Chaaya Island Dhonveli resort, at which he was staying on Tuesday, 29th of July 2008 only three days before he was scheduled to perform.

The news of his untimely death has shocked the whole country and his fans. This tragic news is particularly shocking for Sikhs as he was representing his clean Sikh Identity all round the world. Ishmeet made Sikhs proud of his achievement and by his presence at recognised high class venues. Ishmeet not only mesmerized the music fraternity but also enthralled the whole world with his voice and devotion to singing.

Ishmeet Singh died while he was on a professional commitment (to perform in Star Voice of Maldives). Isn’t the STAR GROUP liable for any compensation to his family?
If STAR GROUP thinks they can shed away the accountability, they are wrong. They are still accountable to whole India or rather the whole world to come forward with some compassion and remorse for what has happened.

STAR GROUP still needs to come up with a unique way to memorialize Ishmeet. We would like to know about Ishmeet’s jourmey, which was short yet so inspiring. Also, we want to know about him from Day 1 to the day he left us. Don’t show us repeat of the VOI Grand Finale, rather come up with a special program for him. Dedicate a special tribute to our hero.

Further, STAR GROUP definitely needs to take initiatives to come up with a CD of his performances. There is no doubt that the CD will get an overwhelm response worldwide. We further demand STAR GROUP to pay the royalty out of the sale of CD to Ishmeet’s family. Though money is no solace to their irrepairable loss but sure it is needed to survive.

There are many unanswered concerns about Ishmeet’s death. Drowning of a 5 ft 11inch tall guy in a swimming pool which was about 7.5 ft deep seems absurd and questionable. The corroboration of the facts by eye witnesses seem fragile. Definitely the loose ends of the mystery need to be tied before concluding anything. There is an absolute need of a high level inquiry into this accident. A demand towards this has already been made by his family. We, as undersigned, put our weight behind this demand and hereby ask for the same in the strongest possible words.

Media did a commendable job in covering this incidence but for only 3 days. No wonder media coverage comes with an expiration date on it. Is this date based on the popularity of the person? Or is it based on the genuineness of media to help? For three days, Ishmeet’s house was hub of all the attention with media vans hovering around it. But why is not media pursuing this further? Have they concluded the cause of his death?

We request world media to support this “Justice for Ishmeet” campaign. We want to convey our feelings and sentiments to the authorities concerned through media as well. The cause of his death should only be concluded after a proper invesitgation into the incident. Also, help him and his family to get what they deserved from the STAR GROUP. His family needs us (including media) more than ever. Lets stick with them to keep alive Ishmeet. This is the least we can do.

Ishmeet was not only the son of Gurprinder Singh and Amritpal Kaur, Ishmeet was not only the brother of Sumeet Kaur but he was the son of every family who aspired him to win VOI. He was the brother of every individual, whom he inspired by his humble personality and commitment towards his faith. He was an idol for many and a true hero, who rightfully deserved the respect he got from his community and the state government. A hero is not only someone who dies for the country or kills for the country. But a hero is someone who motivates you to become a better person and help make this world a better place to live. Ishmeet with his personality not only touched millions of people in India but across the globe. The condolence messages from the world including Pakistan demonstrate this fact.

We would like to conclude by using these lines from Robert Fulghum “I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge -- myth is more potent than history -- dreams are more powerful than facts -- hope always triumphs over experience -- laughter is the cure for grief -- love is stronger than death.”

Love certainly is stronger than death and the biggest manifestation of it is our love for Ishmeet. Our love for Ishmeet is so strong that it would be safe to challenge Almighty, a challenge to filch Ishmeet away from our hearts. Naah! Not possible. We love Ishmeet so much. May his soul rest in peace.
